We paint the interiors of apartments, townhouses and villas across Málaga province, from a single room to a whole property. Each job starts with protection and surface preparation: filling, sanding, sealing stains and, where needed, removing gotelé or skimming. Colours and finishes are agreed with you before work begins, materials can be bought for you, and the quote lists each room and surface separately.
Why does preparation matter more than the paint?
Even the best paint shows every flaw in the surface beneath it. Filler that has not been sanded flush, old flaking layers, water stains that were not sealed and nail holes that were simply painted over all reappear once the light hits the wall. On the Costa del Sol, where strong sunlight pours in through large windows and terrace doors, that light is less forgiving than in northern Europe.
That is why the larger part of our time on a painting job goes into preparation: scraping loose material, filling and sanding, straightening damaged corners, sealing stains and priming bare or patched areas. Our guide on interior painting preparation explains what a contractor should do at each point and why.
What can you paint?
Our painting work covers the usual interior surfaces:
- Walls and ceilings in living areas, bedrooms, hallways and stairwells within the property.
- Kitchens and utility rooms, with finishes chosen for surfaces that are cleaned often.
- Woodwork such as skirting boards, window boards and built-in wardrobes; interior doors have their own service on our door lacquering page.
- Metalwork such as interior radiators or railings, after suitable preparation.
- Feature walls in a contrasting colour, or decorative finishes such as the one in our project photos.
Façades and exterior walls of houses are handled by our sister site reformavillascostadelsol.eu.
How do you choose colours and finishes?
We agree colours with you before the start date, usually from samples applied to your own walls rather than from a printed chart. Colour looks different in a north-facing bedroom than in a south-facing living room flooded with afternoon sun, and a small test on the real wall avoids disappointment.
The sheen matters as well. Matt finishes hide small imperfections and suit living rooms and bedrooms; finishes with more sheen are easier to wipe and are often preferred in kitchens, hallways and children’s rooms. We explain the practical differences and leave the choice of product range to you; we do not push any particular manufacturer.
What about gotelé or very damaged walls?
Painting directly over gotelé gives a fresh colour but keeps the texture. If you want flat walls, the texture has to be stripped or skimmed first; our gotelé removal and wall skimming pages describe how we choose between the two. Walls with many old repairs often benefit from a skim too, so the paint has a uniform surface.
Stains that keep coming back, mould that reappears or paint that blisters are a different matter. They usually point to damp, condensation or a leak, and painting alone will not fix them. If we see signs like these, we tell you and suggest getting the cause checked before decorating.
How do you protect the home while painting?
Floors are covered with protective sheeting taped at the edges, furniture that stays is moved to the centre of the room and wrapped, and windows, frames, switches, sockets and light fittings are masked or removed. Where we are working in an apartment building, we protect the route from the front door to the lift as well.
Clean edges are a matter of preparation and care rather than tape alone. The lines between walls and ceilings, around frames and along skirting boards are what you notice first when a room is finished, so we give them the attention they deserve.
Can you paint while I am living there or while the property is let?
Yes, room by room. Painting on its own is one of the less disruptive interior jobs, especially compared with gotelé removal or flooring. We agree an order that keeps a bedroom and the bathroom usable, ventilate as we go and clear up at the end of each working day.
For holiday lets, the most useful thing you can tell us is the date the property must be ready. We will tell you honestly whether the scope fits that window. If the property also needs plasterboard or ceiling work, read our article on what people regret about repainting before deciding what to include.
What does the quote include?
The quote lists each room with walls and ceilings shown separately, together with preparation, repairs, priming, the number of colours, woodwork, protection and the final clean. If we are buying the paint, it is included; if you are supplying it, the quote says so.
We do not quote prices online. The factors that affect cost, such as ceiling height, condition of the surfaces, furniture and access, are explained on presupuestoreforma.eu.
Does a property by the sea need anything special?
Coastal homes face a few recurring conditions: strong sunlight on walls near large windows, humid spells, and in some properties long closed periods with little ventilation. None of these needs exotic products, but they do influence choices. Rooms that stay shut for part of the year are more prone to condensation, so the finish in bathrooms, kitchens and north-facing bedrooms deserves thought. Walls that receive direct sun can show fading in strong colours over time, which is worth knowing before you choose a deep tone for a feature wall.
We discuss these points during the visit with your specific rooms in mind. If condensation or mould is already a recurring problem, the solution usually involves ventilation or the cause of the moisture, and painting alone will only mask it for a while.
